Residual velocity analysis Link to this post

Hi,
I would like to carry out a residual velocity analysis on pre-stack time-migrated cdp gathers. Is there an easy way to do this in Claritas?
Thanks

Michele

Re: Residual velocity analysis Link to this post

The inclusion of a residual moveout analysis feature in our CVA application is in the development backlog and being look into. Currently in GLOBE Claritas the NMO correction needs to be removed from the pre-stack time migration gathers (as well as stacking them) before the velocities can be re-picked in CVA.

Thanks Keleigh,
It would be nice to see this in a future implementation. What I am doing at the moment is to remove the nmo correction after pre-stack migration (using the migration velocity). Then I look at the semblance of these gathers and refine the velocity model in cva. I wasn't sure if it is the correct thing to do.

Michele,

Your workflow is exactly how we do things at present with post migration velocity updates.
